Enough is never enough – Spring 2012: Flowers
March 12, 2012As I flew back to Sofia absorbing every picture and word of the last issue of LOVE magazine, I strengthened my inner conviction that fashion is primarily entertainment and fun. The last few seasons, especially Spring 2012 shows have drawn fashion away from the universal concepts of beauty, as if to establish and impose a new aesthetic attitude and a new look at modernity. You know, a few years ago the whole fashion focus was shifted on the so-called "investment pieces" - clothes and accessories with classic style made of high quality natural materials and therefore with a value of an investment nature. But after so much pragmatism where does the magic of fashion go?
Unlike other arts fashion must unstoppably create new and new images, and then destroy them, imposing their antipodes in a continual process of creation and denial. The new season is the antithesis of everything too measured, too neat and too boring seen in recent years. In other words, as sung in a favorite song of Depeche "Enough is never enough" - this spring will be much of everything: lots of flowers, candied many pastel colors, prints, retro, pin up, ladylike, manrepellent, sports, marine inspiration ... seasoned with many accessories. One thing is certain - boredom is out of fashion.
A review of the spring trends begins with layering of flowers. Flower prints have become a hit at the end of winter, drawing inspiration from the Resort collections. The combination of a flower printed blazer or shirt with similar printed trousers is a bold, but modern mix today. My interpretation of the layering of flower details is a shirt with an intense flower print on a pencil skirt with spectacular flower lace, decorated with the most covetted Spring necklace from Marni's collection for H&M.
