The last day of Paris Fashion week celebrated one of the best shows so far – that of Louis Vuitton. Theatrical lifts, French maids and accompanying porters were part of the programme, together with some super models as Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, but none of them distracted from the clothes. The set reminded of an expensive hotel, circa the forties, and the girls high-paid escorts.The fetish inspiration came from a conversation with LVMH's Bernard Arnault about women's "inexplicable" obsession with bags and inclined thinking about passions. Accents - big buttons, leather patch pockets, knitted bodies, white pvc peter pan collars pink-sheared at the edges, hotel night porter caps, waxed and matted down furs, lacquered and plasticized checks, luxurious python, coated lace, reinterpreted 1958 top-handle Lockit bag, sometimes affixed to the models' wrists with diamond handcuffs.
